The 80's (UK certainly) take a lot of flak from serious 'Muso' journalists as being creatively dead, and the period is often treated with hostility or derision. The same journalists, or magazine/website then go onto proclaim The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, The Stone Roses, etc as some of the mo...

Sorry guys, but as is the nature of my job, I disappear and reappear without much warning. I always feel like I am letting people down when this happens! Not to worry; I'm back now - give me a week to settle back into RL then I'll be back with a vengeance and redoubling my efforts WRT this site! Han...

Some people dislike change; some people don't like things not going their way; some people are overtaken by RL events.

I am frequently all three of the above, but we all react differently. I'm still here - as are many others.

AICN also has a piece on this: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/47217 It’s on – finally. After years of legal wrangling, ‘on-and-off’s, different directors, rumoured actors and possible new locations, it’s come down to what everyone expected (hoped) it would be in the first place: 2 Films, made by Pet...

Once upon a time there was a lovely little sausage called Baldrick and it lived happily ever after. The end :D (This is a test post BTW and the above is the sole property of Mr S. Baldrick ;) ) Till my other half got hold of it. And Mr. C. went, "Nom nom nom," and he lived happily ever af...

I note with interest that the vanguard of the inevitable ‘Martin Freeman for Bilbo!’ backlash has begun over at Empire. All the cool kids have now decided that he is wrong for the role, and anyway they never wanted him to do it in the first place, no – it certainly wasn’t them you saw suggesting his...

Actually, Withy, you just reminded me of a bit in LOTR that made me LOL - it's during the Battle of the Pellenor Fields when Eomer (I think) meets up with Imrahil (?) and they stop and have a really inappropriate chat before carrying on the fight. Not only does it conjure a bizarre mental image, but...
