A good number of the guys at work are incredibly nerdy and know a lot about science fiction and video games, so I often feel a little intimidated when it comes to displaying my own nerdyness, I suppose. Did you see the NPR reader's choice of best sci-fi and fantasy books? I'm currently trying to mak...

Your smilies are hilarious, although I definitely sympathize with your frustration. Freelanching must be pretty nervewracking. I was considering that route back in my music industry days but decided that I really needed a more stable career. It's nice being back on RB again, I've kind of missed bein...

Ugh, IE7? At the school where I work, the IT department is pushing a changeover to Firefox. The online teaching modules the school uses doesn't properly open and download documents in anything but Firefox now.

Bf is looking into graduate studies in astrobiology, which is exactly what it sounds like -- exploration of life outside of earth. Apparently science is starting to advance to the point that we can actually study these things. I don't totally get all of it, but some of it gets through when he goes o...

Links like that are the reason why it takes me three months to cycle through my library books. Seriously. I'm just now getting to the books I checked out in August. MUST FOCUS...

lol, Candy, you can say anything you like! I don't like Archer at all. For the first couple of episodes, I was constantly trying to figure out why his speaking voice sounds like he's yelling ALL THE TIME. I haven't seen the beagle episode but that definitely captures the superiority complex that I w...

I'm actually not a big fan of the writing or the plots; the constant reiteration in the first season of how much better Earth and human customs/protocols are remind me a little too much of American politics, but I am intrigued by what I think is one of the first interspecies relationships in the Sta...

And perhaps this is also a safe place to admit that bf and I have started watching ST: Enterprise on Netflix and I've suddenly become a huge fan of Trip and T'Pol.

I need to check that book out; I'm trying to work my way through the recent NPR reader's choice sci-fi/fantasy list and that's the only one in the top ten that I haven't read yet. For some reason that I can't remember I am a little wary of Gaiman's work, although I enjoyed his children's novel "...

Scary stuff Candy, glad to hear you are all right! This is a weird time to be a grown-up. What with the things going on in the world news, the US economy and the stock market and the debt crisis and trying to make ends meet, it's a wonder that anyone manages to be a level-headed adult!
